A Love Story Rooted in Adventure

When Devon and Mike envisioned their vibrant floral inspired mountain wedding day, they knew they wanted it to be colorful, high-energy, and bursting with personality. Their wedding website set the tone early, letting guests know that the dress code was “Funky-Vibrant-Fun”. They also let the guest know they could expect “Live music, good food, free drinks. Let’s do this!”

Their love story began in Gainesville, Florida. Here Devon was earning her graduate degree at the University of Florida, and Mike was working at the UF golf course. Over the years, their adventure took them through Chattanooga, Cincinnati, and finally Michigan, where they now live. Their love for live music, hiking, and time spent in the Great Smoky Mountains made The Magnolia Venue the perfect place to bring their closest friends and family together for an unforgettable mountaintop celebration. Spring weddings in the Smoky Mountains are always breathtaking! However, Devon and Mike’s vibrant and floral-inspired wedding at The Magnolia Venue was next-level. Every detail, curated by wedding planner Dahlia & Vine, reflected joy, personality, and thoughtful touches that made their day uniquely their own.

Getting Ready in Style

Devon and her bridesmaids spent the morning relaxing on The Magnolia’s patio in floral-print pajamas, sipping mimosas and soaking in the excitement of the day, while Knoxville Bridal Hair and Makeup by Lexi B did their magic!

• Bride’s Look: Devon wore an off-the-shoulder gown with intricate floral lace, paired with sheer sling-back heels adorned with delicate flowers. Even her perfume, Daisy Wild by Marc Jacobs, reflected the floral theme. She even had a custom embroidered white jacket that read “Mrs. Greenthumb” for later in the evening.

• Groom’s Look: Mike rocked a raisin-colored suit with a navy floral silk lining, especially complemented by a bold floral tie. His groomsmen wore light gray suits, each styled with unique floral ties and colorful boutonnières.

A Ceremony with a View

Set against The Magnolia Venue’s breathtaking mountain backdrop, Devon and Mike’s outdoor ceremony was certainly a dream come true.

• Aisle & Altar: The aisle was lined with lush, vibrant spring florals by Thistle & Lace Florals, leading to a crescent floral installation that framed the couple as they exchanged vows.

• A Seat Saved for Her Father: A special chair was reserved in the front row in honor of Devon’s father, adorned with a beautiful flower arrangement, a framed photo of him, and a lit candle—a touching tribute to his presence in spirit.

• A Personal Touch: Devon’s bouquet was wrapped with a locket containing a photo of her late father, ensuring he was by her side throughout the ceremony.

• A Warm Welcome: Significantly, guests received custom thank-you notes along with their welcome drinks. A heartfelt detail that made everyone feel appreciated.

Cocktail Hour: Boomer’s Bar & Bluegrass Vibes

For cocktail hour, guests moved to The 19th Hole, “Boomer’s Bar”! Designed as a heartfelt and creative tribute to Devon’s late father, who was affectionately known as Boomer. His love of golf inspired the design, with a golf pin-inspired sign proudly marking the space and framed photos of Devon and her dad—letting every guest know they were raising a glass in his honor.

The custom bar, painted a joyful pink, reflected Devon’s love for bright, happy colors, adding a playful touch. Moreover, the couple’s signature drinks carried even more personal meaning. The Masel Mule, a refreshing strawberry Moscow mule, was named after their cat, Masel. And The Old Dolly, a classic old fashioned, paid tribute to their beloved dog, Dolly.

Guests fully embraced the relaxed and joyful energy of the evening. Surely, handcrafted drinks by Single Barrel Events and live bluegrass music from The Well Drinkers helped to set the mood!

A Reception Bursting with Color & Energy

Indeed, everything about the reception reflected Devon and Mike’s playful and bold personalities.

• Décor & Tablescapes: A mix of pink and blue floral linens created a stunning garden-party atmosphere. Butterfly details were woven into the décor as another touching tribute to Devon’s father.

• Cocktail-Style Dining: Instead of a formal plated dinner, guests enjoyed a cocktail-style reception catered by Rosa’s Catering. With charcuterie from Amazing Graze Tables and a variety of small plates, guests could mingle, dance, and eat at their own pace.

• Dessert Bar: The Wildflour Bakehouse provided an assortment of floral-adorned cupcakes, cookies, and a beautifully designed couples’ cake, topped with Devon’s grandparents’ vintage cake topper.

The Best Dance Party Ever

From the first beat, the dance floor was packed. Shoes came off, ties were loosened, and the energy was electric. With an epic playlist by Stephen Goff Entertainment, the night was filled with singalongs, nonstop dancing, and unforgettable moments. And let’s not forget LIMBO!

Furthermore, the couple made sure to take a group photo with all their guests! Capturing the full energy of the celebration was a must-have moment!

A Bubble-Filled Grand Exit

Finally, guests lined up under twinkling string lights. To close out the night, Devon and Mike were sent off in a sea of bubbles. The smiles, laughter, and sheer excitement on their faces made it clear—this was a wedding no one would forget.
